There is no doubt about it. In today’s world the street cop and tactical officer both face an increasingly dangerous environment. The Baker Batshield® Training Division is dedicated towards providing the law enforcement professional the finest training available to help put the odds of surviving potentially violent encounters on your side.

Lt. Al Baker (NYPD –ESU ret.) is a well-known and highly respected trainer, has spent much of his career specializing in the design, use and handling of ballistic shields. Approximately 500 law-enforcement agencies have already taken advantage of Al’s shield expertise. The course syllabus has benefited from the wealth of knowledge shared by actual experiences of hundreds of agencies who routinely conduct a wide range of hazardous law enforcement duties utilizing ballistic shields.

The Baker Batshield® Training Division is founded and managed by Al Baker, and incorporates the wide spectrum of shield usage, tailored to the needs and requirements of the individual agencies seeking shield training. Al Baker is assisted by a national network of experienced shield operators/trainers that provide Baker Batshield training across the U.S., and in selected international locations.

In many regions of the nation, Baker Batshield® can arrange to provide free “familiarization” instruction through the growing network of factory representatives.  This normally takes about 2 hours and a participation certificate is supplied as proof of attendance.

Both the 2-day operator and 3-day instructor training classes are certified and extremely comprehensive.  They entail live-firing and train students to prepare for situations where use of the Baker Batshield® can have dramatic effects increasing officer safety, while simultaneously introducing tactics for the swift application of deadly force and domination of armed encounters with armed and hostile individuals.

The following Shield Training is currently available:

Baker Batshield® “Familiarization” training (available in limited regions nationally) approx. 2 hours.  No charge.

Baker Batshield®  2-day “Operator” shield training, hosted by police agencies, per student fees apply.

Baker Batshield®  3-day “Instructor” train the trainer & IARD, hosted by police agencies, per student fees apply.
