Rick Armellino has been involved in the design and manufacturing of personal armor for over 30 years. As a past President of American Body Armor, Rick has worked closely with American and foreign law enforcement and military organizations in developing armor solutions to hundreds of threat applications. In 2003, Rick teamed up with inventor Al Baker, and the first Baker Batshield® prototypes were created and evaluated.
Rick promptly enlisted the support and expertise of his brother Steve to further incubate this exciting new concept in ballistic shields. Steve Armellino is the founder and President of U.S. Armor Corporation, regarded by many as the most respected name in concealable and tactical police body armor. The Baker Batshield® was further evaluated, tested and shortly thereafter put into production.
